It closes with an amber colored screw clasp. It is not elastic!

Amber is not a “stone” but a natural resin. Every necklace is lovingly handcrafted by Lithuanian artisans with generations of experience who carefully polish and softly round the shape of each Baltic amber bead so it rests gently against the skin. This ensures maximum skin contact and comfort. The string in each of our amber necklaces and children’s bracelets is knotted by hand in between each and every bead, so should the necklace break (which it should if necessary), the rest of the beads will not scatter and only one stone would detach. In the unlikely event that a stone should be ingested, amber is a non-toxic substance and is not harmful. The necklace fastens with an amber colored screw clasp that opens and closes easily.
How to determine the length you need:
Each model comes in 12” and 14” lengths. As long as the necklace is not too snug, the length is a personal preference. A convenient way to measure is to drape a tape measurer or a piece of string around the neck to see what length you are most comfortable with. Just note that amber necklaces are not meant to be sucked on or chewed so a shorter length may help prevent that from happening.
*Similar to children’s games that have age recommendations when the items contain small parts, new legislation mandates an age recommendation of 3 years and older for this type of jewelry. This jewelry is not intended for wear on children under 3 years old.
Children should be supervised when wearing jewelry, and it should be removed when the child sleeps.
How to care for your child’s amber jewelry:
Remove your child’s amber jewelry when bathing to keep shampoos and other products from coating the amber.
To clean your amber, use a soft flannel cloth dampened with clean lukewarm water. You can also lightly polish it with clear olive oil, and then remove any excess oil and restore the polish with another soft cloth.
